Our Vision
We believe in the radical love of God and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. We seek to respond to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.” Our focus is God’s command to love him with all our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). Through weekly gatherings, small groups, mission trips, retreats, fellowship, and serving others we will seek to obey the call to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). Through these opportunities we will equip students with tools they can use to form their faith and grow spiritually.
Our Mission
Community Youth Group (CYG) is an ecumenical ministry uniting middle and high school students and their parents in opportunities for both being discipled and making disciples. We seek to encourage students to see themselves as part of the household of God united in Christ (Ephesians 2:19). A family of God rooted in our salvation through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:16-18).
Our Values
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and done purpose fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. United in Christ we seek to be rooted in love according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 by the power of the Spirit bearing fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). We commit to both seek and be held accountable to:
- Patience and kindness
- Gentleness
- Self-control
- To seek peace in all things
- Joy
- Slow to anger
- Full of forgiveness
- To rejoice in the truth and God’s goodness
- Trust God
- Have hope
- Persevere
- Receive God’s unfailing love
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). This includes:
- Pride
- Envy
- Being rude
- Demanding our own way
- Keeping track of wrongdoing
- Being deceitful/unjust
